U3A Online courses are short courses specially designed for older people and available through a partnership between Third Age Trust (the UK national U3A organisation) and the U3A Online Inc.(based in Australia).

These are courses for which no entry qualifications are required. They offer no credit on completion and are designed purely for personal interest and enjoyment.  They have been written by volunteers who are experienced tutors or course leaders in their fields.

These courses are aimed at U3A members, ex-U3A members who are no longer able to attend a U3A, and those unable to access conventional courses for one reason or another (e.g. restricted mobility, disability, etc).

Upcoming online courses
At the end of March, 2014 (enrolments required by March 29, 2014) we shall be launching a number of new online courses. Enrolment for these courses will be open shortly. These will be interactive and participants will be encouraged or expected to contribute to the online discussion together with the author or tutor. They are:

  • Are fairy tales still relevant in the 21st Century?
  • All In The Mind
  • Gawain and the Plowman
  • Six Impossible Things
  • An Introduction to the history of the design of gardens.

We also hope to re-run existing courses, provided there is sufficient demand (ie at least 16 subscribers). These include Anglo Saxon Poetry and First World War –the home front.

Visit the UK Course list for more details and the Application form to enrol.
